WASHINGTON - President Obama has approved surveillance flights over Syria.

Officials say the move will help gain intelligence over ISIS militants' presence in the country.

Many believe this could lead to US air strikes in Syria despite warnings from Syria's president against such strikes.

The decision to begin military activity over Syria comes after ISIS murdered American journalist James Foley, who was being held hostage in Syria.
