Several women have had their wallets stolen while riding the subway and now police have released video of a man they're searching for in connection to the robbery pattern.
Police say robberies have happened three times within the last few weeks in Brooklyn.
The NYPD says the most recent was on Wednesday, Nov. 21 near Nostrand Avenue and Atlantic Avenue, a 31-year-old woman noticed her backpack was open and realized she no longer had her wallet. In her wallet, officials say, were three credit cards. Police say the suspect tried to use one of those cards at Maison Charles French Cleaners on Flatbush Avenue but was unable too.
The first incident happened in October inside the 7th Avenue 2 train when a 30-year-old woman noticed her wallet had gone missing. Police say the credit cards in that wallet were used by the suspect to buy eight monthly MetroCards.
A third incident occurred at the Pacific Street subway station on Sunday, Nov. 11 to another woman who noticed she too was missing her wallet and credit cards. Her cards were also used by the suspect to purchase monthly MetroCards.
With the holiday season in full swing, the NYPD Community Affairs Bureau are offering several tips to keep your belonging safe.
They say to refrain from wearing headphones on the subway or bus, sit away from the subway car door to avoid a purse or chain snatch, remain alert to your surroundings, especially if you are using an electronic device and to never carry your wallet in your rear pants pocket or in the outer compartment of your backpack.
Anyone with information on the robbery pattern is asked to call police.
