A man found floating in the Coney Island Channel was pronounced dead this morning, the NYPD says.

Responders arrived just before 7 a.m. near Boardwalk West and Stillwell Avenue.

They said the man is believed to be in his 30s. He was pronounced dead on the scene by EMS. Some residents say that while it's a sad situation, it's not all too surprising.

“I mean if he was swimming the tide can take you away, that can definitely happen," said Bay Ridge resident Danny Paris.

Police are now investigating to see if this incident is connected to a search for a man who was spotted jumping off of a Coney Island pier late last month.

Details surrounding the man’s identity and how he died have not yet been released.

The medical examiner tells News 12 that the examination of the body will take place on Wednesday.
