A nationwide program has made a U.S. Army veteran a new homeowner.
Veteran Paul Oddo and his fiancee Maria Davis, who are expecting a child, were welcomed to their new home in Mastic Beach by neighbors and fellow veterans, thanks to the Nehemiah Group. The nonprofit organization works with Bank of America to give homes to hundreds of veterans across the country.
Oddo says he heard about the nonprofit group from a friend. He applied online and heard back within four days.
"We put together a program to donate to returning veterans across the country," says Nehemiah Group managing director Ron Mellone. "So far, we donated more than a thousand."
The new homeowners are expected to move in this week.
