No injuries after truck crashes into preschool
A delivery truck crashed into a Williamsbridge preschool this morning, just as latecomers were rushing to get to school on picture day.
The accident occurred on East 219th Street at around 8 a.m. at the Williamsbrige NAACP Early Childhood Education Center
The truck driver, who did not want to go on camera, told News 12 he was trying to pull over to deliver fish to the school when the brakes failed and he skidded up onto the sidewalk and crashed into the building.
The director of the preschool said that a few parents were dropping off children at the time, but there were no injuries.
Parents are using the back entrance while the school waits for the Department of Buildings to determine if the school's stairwell is safe to use.
No arrests were made.
