Nicholas Pedone's memory honored at St. Baldrick's fundraiser in Glen Cove
A special fundraiser was held during Glen Cove's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade today to honor the memory of a boy who lost his battle with cancer.
Nicholas Pedone, 7, died last May from neuroblastoma, a form of childhood cancer. His parents say Glen Cove rallied around their family, offering lots of support and raising thousands of dollars for his medical expenses.
This year, the Downtown Cafe held its annual St. Baldrick's fundraiser during the parade, where people volunteered to have their heads shaved to raise money for childhood cancer. Nicholas was at the fundraiser last year and this year, part of the proceeds went to the Nicholas Pedone Foundation that was started in his memory. Additional money was raised through the sales of shirts and headbands, along with raffles.
Nicholas' parents say the money will help other families whose children are battling cancer.
