A NICE bus driver faced her alleged attacker in court today.
Police say 27-year-old Ivey Dixon, of Hempstead, started pummeling driver Keisha McGregor after she didn't let her off at an unscheduled stop. The incident was captured on cellphone video.
"She could have had a gun, she could have had a knife, she could have done anything," says McGregor.
McGregor went to court this morning joined by more than a dozen other bus drivers. The drivers say verbal and physical attacks are increasing and they want protection.
The protection could come in the form of a security partition for drivers. The MTA has started installing partitions on some of its buses in New York City. Long Island drivers and bus unions are now demanding the same level of protection.
NICE says crimes against its drivers are rare, but in light of the recent attack, it says it is going to look at improving driver security systems, including partitions.
Dixon is being held on $15,000 bond. If found guilty, Dixon could face up to seven years behind bars.
McGregor says she's still recovering from the attack and hopes to get back on the road soon.
