Newspaper rep keeps quiet over News Corp. purchase
The man in charge of two local newspapers purchased by Rupert Murdoch Tuesday is remaining silent on the details of the deal and its effects.
Efforts by News 12 The Bronx to get details on the deal have been unsuccessful. After contacting John Colazzi, the founder and publisher of The Bronx Times and The Bronx Times Reporter, News 12 reporters were sent to public relations representatives in Manhattan for answers.
The public relations firm Rubenstein Public Relations then instructed News 12 The Bronx to contact the newspapers directly.
News Corporation chairman Rupert Murdoch purchased The Bronx Times and The Bronx Times Reporter in a bid to increase his advertising within the borough.
Bronx Times employees say that they have only been told the office will be moving. They also say they are not worried, having already seen the treatment of newspapers in Brooklyn and Queens that were also purchased by News Corporation.
