The Suffolk District Attorney is being investigated for possibly failing to investigate a politically connected attorney at the center of a bribe allegation.
According to Newsday, the feds have interviewed several people with knowledge of the 2007 wiretap investigation of defense lawyer Robert Macedonio.
Sources tell Newsday that federal investigators want to know if Macedonio paid prosecutor John Scott Prudenti to help secure the early release of a violent felon.
The report says the case could be part of a larger federal probe into possible "selective prosecution" under District Attorney Thomas Spota.
Spota has denied any wrongdoing.
