WOODBURY - Young hunters will be able to participate in a wild turkey hunt on Long Island this weekend.

For the first time in Suffolk County, hunters between the ages of 12 and 15 who have the proper permits will be able to take part in the traditional spring hunt.

The Department of Environmental Conservation says the hunt will help control Long Island's wild turkey population. There's an estimated 3,000 wild turkeys on Long Island.
