THE BRONX - The Bronx Bombers have kicked off their 2011 campaign with a winning start, beating the Detroit Tigers 6-3.

Fans packed the stadium to cheer on the Yankees despite cold and rainy weather. A group of Carle Place residents was at the game after returning from Florida, where they watched the team during spring training.

There is a little less pressure on the Yankees this season with most of the preseason pundits picking the revamped Boston Red Sox to win the AL East, but after today's win, fans were already talking about their hopes for a World Series victory this year.
