BRENTWOOD - Officials say a worker who was injured by a carnival ride in Brentwood last night has died.Authorities say 22-year-old Michael Austin was working at the Feast of Mother Cabrini festival last night when he reached under the moving machinery of a ride called The Scat, which features spinning baskets for riders to stand in. Austin was struck in the head and was rushed to the hospital, but he died a short time later.Ride owner Pete Zorlenzan says he's stunned by the accident that came just three weeks after Austin started the job. He says Austin may have been trying to change the ride's soundtrack by reaching for an iPod while the ride was still in motion.Organizers say the ride was found to be working properly. They say it will be closed for the rest of the carnival out of respect to Austin.
