Woodmere man accused of child luring faces judge

A Woodmere man was in court today, answering to charges that he tried to lure young girls into his car and exposed himself to one

HEMPSTEAD - A Woodmere man was in court today, answering to charges that he tried to lure young girls into his car and exposed himself to one of them. Michael Chemick, 23, is accused of trying to lure teenage girls to his car on several occasions while driving in Bellmore. Chemick was charged with attempted luring of a child and third-degree stalking. Police say Chemick also exposed himself and yelled obscenities in one case. In court, an attorney from the Nassau District Attorney's Office said Chemick admitted to the behavior and said he needed help in a written statement. The attorney recommended a psychiatric evaluation. Police say the most recent incident occurred on Monday near Jefferson and Beltaugh avenues. Cops say Chemick was following a 15-year-old girl in his car and tried to lure her over. Authorities say that was the third incident within two weeks. Orders of protection were granted to the alleged victims. Meanwhile, Chemick is due back in court on Nov. 16.
