MASTIC - Police are looking for the woman who threw a dog out of her car in Mastic.

The toy poodle was thrown out of the car in front of the Exxon gas station on Montauk Highway.

A witness says the female suspect was driving a white-colored car and had four young children in the car at the time of the incident.

The dog was later found wandering at Smith Point. Animal control officers picked him up and brought him to a shelter.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Suffolk SPCA at 631-382-7722. The woman is said to be in her 30s with straight brown hair, a small piercing on her lower lip and a tattoo of someone's name in script on her neck. The Suffolk SPCA is also offering a $2,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.

Officials say a family has now taken the dog and and will likely adopt it.
