Woman arrested after police chase on Sunrise Highway

BAY SHORE - One woman is in custody after allegedly leading officers on a police chase along Sunrise Highway yesterday evening.

Officials say Suffolk County police began chasing a BMW in North Lindenhurst around 6 p.m. and followed the car until it crashed into a pair of parked cars on the corner of Redman Avenue and the South Service Road of the Sunrise Highway in Bay Shore.

Suffolk County police and federal agents swarmed the vehicle and arrested an unidentified woman.

A witness at the scene tells News 12 Long Island that police may have recovered a sizeable amount of drugs from the vehicle.

Officials say the woman was uninjured in the crash but a person inside one of the parked cars sustained minor injuries.

Police will not revealed why they began chasing the vehicle or what the woman has been charged with.
