HEMPSTEAD - An office manager is accused of stealing more than $130,000 over a two-year period from the Long Island charity she worked for.

Detectives say Merline Campbell, who worked for Sustainable Long Island, used company credit cards for her own personal use and racked up a bill worth between $130,000 - $200,000.

Sustainable Long Island is a charity that has spent more than a decade revitalizing some of Long Island's struggling communities.

A spokesman for Sustainable Long Island said "...the organization came across unauthorized expenditures by a staff member. Upon discovering these expenses, Sustainable Long Island immediately informed local authorities and terminated the employee."

Campbell is being held on $10,000 bail.
