Witnesses: Woman run over in Central Islip courthouse parking lot

CENTRAL ISLIP - Witnesses tell News 12 Long Island that a woman has been run over in the parking lot at the Central Islip courthouse in what appears to be a domestic abuse case.

According to the witnesses, the incident happened at around 10 a.m. when a white Hyundai sedan struck the woman at least three times.

Sources say the driver was the woman's estranged husband. Another woman was sitting in the car next to him.

Sources also say the driver and his passenger were taken into police custody. The victim was rushed to the hospital, but her condition remains unknown.

Matrimonial attorney Evie Zardakadas say it's not uncommon for emotions to run high during court proceeding involving feuding spouses, but instances of violence at the courthouse are rare.
