Witnesses: Police chase in Freeport ends in man's death

A man was killed early this morning when his car was sliced in half by another vehicle during a high-speed police chase in Freeport, according

FREEPORT - A man was killed early this morning when his car was sliced in half by another vehicle during a high-speed police chase in Freeport, according to witnesses.

The incident occured shortly after 3 a.m.

Luis Carlos, of Freeport, says the chase was sparked by a shooting at a bar on South Bayview Avenue. According to Carlos, two men fled the bar after the shooting and got into a car. An officer then instructed the men to stop and followed them after they refused.

Witnesses say the pursuit ended at Pine Street and Guy Lombardo Avenue when the suspects' vehicle plowed into a white car, killing its driver. According to residents, the back end of the victim's vehicle landed on Pine Street, while the front end crashed about half a block away.

Police have yet to release any information regarding the suspects or the victim.
