MORICHES - The first snowstorm of the season pummeled the East End the hardest, leaving residents to dig out from about a half-foot of snow.
While the snow tapered off by Saturday afternoon, the below freezing temperatures left road conditions icy.
It was slow going on the eastbound Long Island Expressway, where one car after another spun out of control on the slick blacktop.
Tow truck operator Ray Daniels says he's been working non-stop since 8 a.m., assisting drivers who got involved in accidents. In some cases, the road conditions caused cars to spin off right into the woods.
