MINEOLA - Westbound service has been restored between Jamaica and Penn Station following signal problems.

Service between Woodside and Penn Station has also been restored.

According to the LIRR, a contractor accidentally cut a cable that controls signals in two of the four East River tunnels. As a result, seven Long Island-bound trains were canceled, and service between Jamaica and Penn Station was temporarily suspended.

Customers should expect residual delays.
