ROBERT MOSES - Long Island beaches are paying the price for a storm system that slammed the area over the weekend.

Officials say there was serious erosion at Fields 4 and 5 at Robert Moses State Park following heavy rain and powerful winds. They say that most of the 150,000 pounds of sand they replenished after last year's storms is now gone.

The Parks Department says it put in bids to several contractors in hopes of replenishing the sand before Memorial Day. Officials say capital funds will be used for now and they will seek reimbursement from FEMA.
