Wedding bells set to ring for hundreds of same-sex couples on LI

Hundreds of same-sex couples are expected to tie the knot during a mass wedding ceremony at Bethpage State Park next month.The weddings will take place

BETHPAGE - Hundreds of same-sex couples are expected to tie the knot during a mass wedding ceremony at Bethpage State Park next month.

The weddings will take place at Carlyle on the Green July 26. Organizers of the event say the ceremony and reception will be free for the marrying couples.

"We have couples that have been waiting decades to get married," says David Kilmnick, of Long Island Gay Lesbian Bisexual Services.

Same-sex couples can apply for a marriage license as of July 5, but they can't get married until the new law goes into effect July 24.
