Website raises money for fired Wantagh custodian

WANTAGH - There is a new wave of support for the autistic man who lost his custodial job at Wantagh Middle School. A website started for Mel Turner has already raised more than $4,000 to help him get by.

Turner is autistic and was allegedly bullied by some students off Wantagh Middle School grounds.

Turner was fired after being caught on tape making threats against the school. School officials have allowed Turner back on school grounds. The school board will meet this week to decide about giving Turner his job back.
