WOODBURY - News 12 Long Island's Meteorologist Bill Korbel is tracking a strong storm for the area this evening.

The storm started off with some light snowfall in Nassau and a wintry mix in Suffolk. It's expected to change into heavy rain later tonight.

A high wind warning is in effect for Nassau and Suffolk through 6 a.m. with wind gusts of up to 60 mph expected to whip across the Island. A coastal flood warning is also in effect for the area and tides could be running up to 3 feet above normal.

Temperatures will climb into the upper-30s overnight, Korbel says.
