NORTH MERRICK - A water main break Friday flooded roads in North Merrick.

Residents say the break occurred around 4:30 p.m. Merrick Avenue was closed between Jerusalem Avenue and Meadowbrook Road for several hours.

Water service was shut off as crews worked to repair the main.

Viewer photos sent to News 12 show flooding in the area near a Duane Reade store.

The Town of Hempstead says that only a few customers in the area were affected.
