Water alerts issued for 3 Suffolk communities

The Suffolk County Department of Health Services says water supplies may not be safe for consumption in three different communities.Residents are advised of potential contaminants

WOODBURY - The Suffolk County Department of Health Services says water supplies may not be safe for consumption in three different communities.Residents are advised of potential contaminants in the supplies in the following areas:

*Maidstone Park Cottages in East Hampton

*Peconic View Mobile Home Park in Riverhead

*All Fire Island community water supply systems, except for Ocean Beach

Health officials say residents in these areas should avoid using tap water for potable purposes until further notice.

Boiling the water or using bottled water instead is advised.For additional information, residents should contact their water suppliers or Suffolk health officials at 631-854-0093.
