MILFORD - Warnaco Group, a Milford clothing manufacturer, is closing its doors in June and town officials say the closure will hurt more than just the employees who will be laid off.

"The effect goes into the local community through the subcontractors and, potentially, many of the smaller businesses that they work with," says Kathleen Alagno, the president of Milford's Chamber of Commerce. Town officials say 208 employees from the company will lose their jobs.

Milford Director of Economic Development Robery Gregory says Mayor Ben Blake has been contacted by a company looking for people to hire and encouraged Warnaco employees to contact Blake's office.
