Utility pole fire near Westbury delayed LIRR service on Port Jefferson, Huntington and Ronkonkoma lines
WOODBURY - It was a slow ride home for some commuters on the LIRR Tuesday night.
Service was suspended on the Ronkonkoma, Port Jefferson and Huntington branches during the evening rush because of a utility pole fire near the tracks in Westbury. It was restored a short time later, but there were still residual delays.
Fire officials confirmed that electrical wires ignited the pole, which was most likely the result of high winds.
