BABYLON - A scavenger hunt-style race through Babylon Village Saturday afternoon helped raise money for a program that helps save lives.
PALS, or Patient Airlift Services, is a volunteer pilot organization that arranges free flights for people that are in need of medical diagnosis, treatment or a follow-up appointment. The program has organized around 5,000 flights since it was founded four years ago.
Saturday’s fundraiser called the "Urban Race" began at the American Legion Hall in Babylon. Participating teams spent weeks raising money for PALS.
Nearly $20,000 was raised during the event.
