YAPHANK - Union employees have decided to halt the sale of the John J. Foley Skilled Nursing Center to a private company, leaving it in the hands of Suffolk County.

In addition, those same voters failed to agree to be kept as employees for the next 18 months. Stacy Wahl, a certified nurse assistant at the facility, says she voted against the sale because she could not watch her patients get thrown to the wind.

"We're like family here," she said.

The center's 180 employees would lose their health care if the sale was approved.
