WOODBURY - Five months after his surprising Ultimate Fighting title, Baldwin native Chris Weidman chatted with News 12 Long Island's Jamie Stuart about his new fame, fortune and rematch against Anderson Silva.

Weidman, the UFC Middleweight champion, says that since his win, his life has changed.

After beating Anderson Silva, he has been featured on shirts, action figures and on ESPN. He even had a day named after him in Nassau County.

Weidman says his financial situation also changed. "I was able to buy a brand new house in Dix Hills," he says. "Having that financial security for me and my family, it feels great."

Weidman still trains in Ray Longo's Gym in Garden City, but now he partially owns it. It was Ray Longo who convinced Weidman not to be a wrestling coach and try mixed martial arts.

Weidman is scheduled for a rematch against Anderson Silva on Dec. 28 in Las Vegas.
