WOODBURY - A court-appointed trustee says the Mets' owners made profits from the Ponzi scheme, even as they shopped for insurance in case the scam collapsed.

Partners in Sterling Equities are accused of contacting a broker in 2001 to ask about insuring their account with Bernie Madoff.

Court records show one hand written note included the words "fraud" and "fidelity" with "Ponzi" in parenthesis. Sterling denies it knew about the wrong doing.
