BROOKLYN - Opening statements were heard today in the trials of two of the men accused of killing an NYPD cop and father of four from West Babylon.

Detective Peter Figoski was gunned down in Dec. 2011 at the scene of a botched robbery in Brooklyn.

The trials for accused gunman Lamont Pride and alleged getaway driver Michael Velez opened today. A sea of officers packed into the Brooklyn courtroom in support of the fallen officer. Figoski's family was also there.

Pride faces first-degree murder charges for allegedly pulling the trigger on the 9 mm gun used to kill Figoski. Prosecutors say Pride's DNA is on the gun in four separate locations.

Pride and Velez are among five men allegedly involved in the crime. Prosecutors announced today that another one of the suspects has agreed to a plea deal: Ariel Tejado will serve 18 years in prison in exchange for his testimony.

The trials for Pride and Velez will resume on Monday and are expected to last several weeks.
