Tractor-trailer leaks fuel onto Sunrise Hwy. at exit 45

Police tell News 12 the trailer blew a tire around 9:30 a.m. which lead to a fuel leak.

ISLIP - Police say a tractor-trailer leaked out about 120 gallons of fuel onto Sunrise Highway this morning.

Chopper 12 was over the scene on the eastbound side at exit 45.
Police tell News 12 a piece of the tire punctured the fuel tank, causing the leak around 9:30 a.m.

Officials say about 60 to 65 gallons leaked into a nearby storm drain. DEC did respond to the scene.

All lanes were reopened and no serious injuries were reported.
