ROOSEVELT - Hundreds of familys got into the giving spirit today by giving away free toys to children in Roosevelt.

'Harvest for the World,' a nonprofit, organized the event on Pleasant Avenue. Joanna Bell Richards, her husband, and daughter Angelik founded the organization in their hometown of Roosevelt. The family says there is a tremendous need in the community for basic services.

In addition to giving away toys, the organization was also handing out food for Christmas dinner. Volunteers at the event also paired up children and families with free winter coats.
