ISLIP - The Town of Islip might face some layoffs following a judge's ruling ordering the town to return cars to some county workers.

Three years ago, Islip Town Supervisor Phil Nolan took away 45 town cars from Local Teamsters 237 to save money. A judge has ordered that the cars be returned because it was previously outlined in their contracts.

In addition, the judge has also ordered that the town pay $2.4 million to compensate for the union employees? commute over the past couple of years.

In order to repay that amount, the town says it might have to consider layoffs.
