CORAM - The Town of Brookhaven Highway Department is taking steps to ensure not to repeat what some residents call a disastrous experience during February's blizzard.
Brookhaven Highway Superintendent Dan Losquadro tells News 12 Long Island that emergency preparedness is his top priority.
Losqudro says new staff and equipment will be better prepared to handle severe weather conditions in the future.

He added that the department has identified critical roads leading to important places like hospitals and emergency shelters to keep clear during storms.
The department will also purchase nine new heavy trucks with salt and sanding capability and a new communication system for all trucks.
