HICKSVILLE - Irene roared across Long Island today and in addition to causing floods and power outages, she toppled tons of trees in her path.

In Hicksville, a large tree split clear in half and landed on a two-story home.

Downed trees blocked roads and highways all across the Island. Many of them knocked out power lines as they hit the ground.
