WOODBURY - After months of campaigning, Tom Suozzi has moved one step closer regaining his old position as Nassau County executive.
Suozzi was able to edge out political newcomer Adam Haber with 59 percent of the vote.
He lost to Republican incumbent Ed Mangano by less than 400 votes four years ago in the executive race. He says he has learned an important lesson this time around.
“Ed Mangano is bankrupting the future of our children by borrowing too much money and spending too much money,” said Suozzi at his campaign headquarters. “We have to fight for the future of our children, our grandchildren and all of Long Island.”
"With over 10,000 Democrats rejecting Tom Suozzi, we look forward to debating Suozzi's record of hiking property taxes by 23 percent and leaving behind a record $3.45 billion in debt," said a spokesperson for Mangano.
The general election will be held in November.
