WOODBURY - Former County Executive Tom Suozzi has won the Democratic primary over businessman Adam Haber.

Suozzi now faces the man who knocked him out of office four years ago by less than 400 votes, current Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano.

Suozzi took 59 percent of the vote yesterday, while Haber had 41 percent.

Political anaylist Larry Levy says Suozzi has an uphill battle before the November election. He says that Suozzi will have to persuade Nassau voters that they made a mistake four years ago by electing Mangano.

In Suffolk, incumbent Thomas Spota has won the Republican nomination for district attorney from Raymond Perini. Spota gained 56 percent of the vote to Perini's 44 percent.

For Suffolk sheriff, Vincent DeMarco takes the Republican nod over Samuel Barreto Jr., 68 percent to 32 percent.

In Smithtown, longtime incumbent Patrick Vecchio beat challenger Bob Creighton for the Republican nomination for town supervisor.
