EAST SETAUKET - A 2-year-old girl from Ecuador who was born with a rare facial deformity is undergoing life-changing surgery here on Long Island.

Angie Barreto had a birth defect that left her very disfigured, and back in Ecuador, her family didn't think anything could be done. But Blanca's House, a nonprofit group that provides free medical care, brought Angie to Long Island for help.

The plastic surgeons at Stony Brook University Medical Center have already begun working on Angie's cheeks. In six weeks, the surgeons will continue the procedure and reconfigure her facial structure.

Angie's mother and sister say they're very happy that in a few years, all of it will be behind her.
