Timothy Hill Children's Ranch in Riverhead gives second chance to boys

RIVERHEAD - A ranch in Riverhead gives troubled boys a second chance.

The Timothy Hill Children's Ranch, a group home and horse farm, is a place where boys ages 10 to 21 go to get their lives back on track.

Fern Hill opened the ranch 32 years ago after her 13-year-old son Timothy was killed by a truck while on his morning paper route.

The boys spend the afternoons riding and caring for horses. During the day, they learn traditional school work as well as social and general life skills.

The Hill family is currently looking into creating a similar ranch for troubled girls.
