Time running out for submission of new Nassau Coliseum plans

UNIONDALE - Developers have until Monday to submit any plans they have for renovating the aging Nassau Coliseum and its surrounding site in Uniondale. No developers have come forward publicly to announce their interest, but Nassau County says things aren't over yet.

County Executive Ed Mangano (R-Nassau) says he hopes a project will be found to not only renovate or build a new Coliseum, but to keep the New York Islanders there as well, when their lease expires in 2015.

Mangano says there's been interest in smaller parcels of land in the area. He hopes to get a master developer to bring the smaller projects together in order to keep the area viable enough to maintain a Coliseum.
