BABYLON - The Lauren Kristy, Long Island's only turn-of-the-century paddle boat, continues to offer a unique experience for passengers on the Great South Bay.

Every day, from April through October, owner and Capt. Mike Eagon takes passengers on historical tours through the waters on the 65-foot vessel.

"It's basically a replica of a Mississippi stern wheeler,” Eagon says. “Back in the 1800s, that was the primary means of transportation on the Mississippi River."

The Lauren Kristy cruises out of the Bay Shore Marina. The tours last about three hours and cost $50.
