WOODBURY - The oppressive heat was in the mid-90s in many parts of Long Island today. News 12 Long Island Meteorologist Bill Korbel says with the humidity, the temperatures felt like it was 100 degrees. However, no records were broken. There is an ozone advisory until 10 p.m., as well as an air quality advisory, which will also likely be in effect tomorrow.High levels of ozone can aggravate asthma and cause shortness of breath. Health officials are advising older residents and young children to limit outdoor activities. Tomorrow, temperatures are expected to hit 96 degrees in some parts of the Island, before the arrival of cooler air Friday.
