Teens injured in Wantagh Parkway hit-and-run

WANTAGH - Police are searching for the driver who hit two teenagers on the Wantagh Parkway early Tuesday morning.

Matthew Donde, 18, and Jessica Sill, 15, were struck after having car trouble and pulling over to the south shoulder of the roadway at around 3 a.m. State police say the driver did not stop.

The couple is recovering at Nassau University Medical Center. Donde has 40 staples in his head and a broken pelvis. Sill suffered a broken collar bone.

Sill’s father, James, says his daughter was able to wave down a passing car that was able to get help.

State police are asking the public for help. Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is urged to call 631-756-3300.
