HEMPSTEAD - A Hempstead teen appeared in court today after he allegedly stole a GPS system and fired shots at the device's owner.

Police say Ralphael Brown stole the GPS from a van on Clinton Avenue yesterday afternoon. They say Brown fled when the owner of the van and his friends started chasing him.

Brown reportedly pulled out a gun and fired several shots at the men, missing them entirely.

He was tackled by the victim and held until cops arrived.
