ROCKVILLE CENTRE - Taxpayers will be making some big decisions Tuesday when they vote on their school district spending plans.

Brentwood Teachers Association president Kevin Coyne says none of the students in kindergarten, first or second grade have had art class in two years because there's no money to pay for an art teacher.

In Rockville Centre, the superintendent says they've managed to keep costs down and programs intact by renegotiating union contracts.

The tax cap expires next year, but insiders say it's so popular that the legislature is almost certain to extend it.

School budget votes will take place on Tuesday, May 19.
