MINEOLA - Taxpayers and lawmakers are calling on Gov. Andrew Cuomo to go public with all the information concerning his plan to build a third set of rail tracks in Nassau County.

As News 12 has reported, the governor's $1.5 billion plan would construct a third track along a stretch between Floral Park and Hicksville.

"Without facts, without details, without accurate data, how do we expect communities to be able to not only pose the questions, but provide the comments necessary to have a proper scoping review and environmental impact study?" asks state Sen. Jack Martins (R-Mineola).

A spokesperson for the governor issued a statement in part saying, "The Governor has committed to unprecedented community engagement - early and often - and that's what you're seeing right now and will continue to see as the project moves forward."

Two public hearings on the third track proposal are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Lawmakers and residents say they are asking Gov. Cuomo to postpone the meetings until more details about the plan are released.
