HICKSVILLE - Target is working to regain the trust of its customers in the wake of a massive data theft announced this week that amounted to the second-largest credit card data breach in U.S. history.
The discount retailer is offering 10 percent off to shoppers this weekend. It comes after debit and credit card information was exposed for more than 40 million in-store shoppers due to a security breach over the past several weeks.
Target is also offering its shoppers free credit monitoring services.
News 12 visited the Hicksville store today, where many customers were undaunted by the data breach. Some said they were lured back by the 10 percent discount, while others said they would use cash at the store instead of their cards.
Security experts say that even if you don't believe you have been a victim of the breach, you should still routinely examine your account statements for suspicious activity.
